Welcome to the PTO Website!
Dear Winstead Families:
August is an exciting time, and we are looking forward to another great year!
We are the Winstead PTO (Parent Teacher Organization). We work within the school to implement many programs that all of the students enjoy, as well as coordinate family activities and our annual Wildcat Walk. We are able to do all these things through our Membership Drive and fundraising activities that are held throughout the year. Our PTO has evolved over the past six years, and as a board we’ve spent many hours recapping the previous years’ activities, brainstorming new ideas, and looking at the endless possibilities as we enter into our 7th year.
Perhaps one of our most important goals this year is to increase parental involvement in our school. Research shows that when schools, families, and communities work together to support learning, children tend to do better in school, stay in school longer, and like school more. Whether you have 30 minutes or a couple of hours, your time, your ideas, and your talents are needed. We can match your time constraints and interests to needed tasks. We have many ways in which Moms, Dads, Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents can contribute. Please consider volunteering, it really does make a difference in the lives of our children!
We know that many working parents feel that they cannot be included in the PTO because they cannot come to every meeting or be at the school during the day. We want you to know that "WE NEED YOU" too! We need your ideas and energy to make this a successful year. We hope that our expanded list of committees will offer you a better opportunity to get involved and help you find a place to serve our students and staff in a way that fits into your lifestyle.
We have many committees that are active at different times of the year and require various levels of commitment. The success of the Winstead PTO is dependent upon people who are enthusiastic about volunteering at our school. Parents who work with computers might help by doing electronic committee work, (e.g. emails, website, newsletters) while parents with time during the day might come to the school to help out with a committee (e.g. Walk-a-thon, helping in the Workroom.)Whatever your own level of flexibility, the Winstead PTO always appreciates their parent volunteers, as do our teachers and staff. Keep in mind that by volunteering, you will get to enjoy interacting with the kids, become friends with other parents, and accomplish things that truly make a difference.
Please take some time to look over the list of committees, and hopefully you will find a volunteer activity that will be a perfect fit for you. Once the forms are collected, we will chair all the committees, and you will be contacted by phone and/or e-mail from the chairperson. Another great benefit to volunteering is that you will get to see first hand how the students benefit from so many programs and all of our hard work.
