Wreath Raffle Ideas

Wreath from Mrs. Sellers' 4th grade class (12/2006)

Use your imagination, pick a theme, coordinate your parents and/or students to help out, then put it all together!  You are only limited by your imagination!  As a Room Mom, you are not required to make the wreath, but required to find someone who is able and willing to pour their heart and soul into making a wreath that everyone will want to buy tons of tickets for!!!  This is such a fun time for those that are crafty, so find someone (or two) who will take on this project and love every minute of it!!!  It's not hard.

And please don't feel that you have to spend a lot of money.  Shop now for things on sale.  Ask the parents to "pitch in" to help distribute the costs, but be wise in your spending...the wreath doesn't have to cost a lot to be a big hit!  Gift cards are great, but make sure that you ask your parents what they would like to donate/spend for the wreath, before you empty your wallet!  A few dollars from each parent will go a long way!  The goal is to create a wonderful wreath...not break the bank!  We do want you to be able to buy some tickets for the raffle!?!  And we certainly don't want everyone to shy away from this project in the future!

As you can see the wreath above (which Maura Perine & Angela Van Noy put together) is a Coffee/Java theme.  The wreath was covered with coffee beans, then gift cards and other goodies were attached to create a very festive and valuable wreath.  Overall, it was very simple and cost about $40 to make!  You don't have to be a professional wreath maker or flower arranger!  The parents donated gift cards/money/goodies with which to decorate the wreath, and Maura found that cute "welcome" sign to finish it perfectly!  With the help of a hot glue gun, it was created in a flash!

You can:
- have the students make something
- have the students/parents donate something

Theme suggestions:
- Tennessee Titans
- UT or the college of your choice!
- Christmas
- 4th of July or the holiday of your choice!
- Winstead Wildcats
- Arts & Crafts
- Seasons - winter, summer, spring, fall
- Sports, Princess, other kid themes!
- Kids' writing on a topic (ie: their Christmas wish, their favorite thing)
- Gift Cards donated - pick a theme like "movie night" or "family night" or "Queen for a Day" or books/reading

Think of all the people you know that would like to buy tickets and possibly win something (mom, dad, teachers, students), then think of what they would like to win, and the sky's the limit!  Does Dad love Nascar or golf or UT football?  What would Dad love to win so that he'll agree to buy more tickets ;) ?  Does mom love scrapbooking or pedicures or Starbucks?  What would Mom love to win so she'll agree to buy more tickets :) ?  Does your child love arts & crafts or reading or Build-a-Bear or Club Libby Lu or the Predators (hockey) or the Tennessee Titans or Winstead?  What would they love to win, because we all know that when they want something, we all agree to buy a few more tickets :) ?  Do you love Christmas?  Do you love to have wreaths for all seasons on your door?  Do you see how many possibilities there are?

The wreath doesn't have to be something that you would put on your door like the gift card wreath or the arts-n-crafts wreath.  Use your imagination!  They will all be wonderful...they were last year!
